JOYLAND by Stephen King is 283 pages in trade paperback format.

Brief Description:

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever.

I loved this book.  I forgot to bring the current book home with me one day and had to pick this one up for something to read.  It was one of those books that once you started, you didn’t want to put it down.  It was along the lines of COLORADO KID but with more of coming of age theme to it.  In fact the murder part is kind of secondary to the other parts of the story.  There were a couple of “ghost moments” but very small.

I am giving this book 5 out of 5 stars and wish that Stephen King would write more like this.  I personally would read every one as they are very well written and kept me wanting to turn the next page.
